Cry Babies in K-Pop

Who knows when this phenomenon began, but whoever started it deserves a fruit basket. You know you all secretly love watching male idols win awards because one of them, there’s always ONE, that always cries!

In honor of that special moment in their young careers I’ve decided to dedicate a special post to the ‘cry babies’ in K-Pop. And I’m saying that in the sweetest and nicest way possible, because who doesn’t love a man who shows some emotions?

So, I’m counting down my top 5 from last to EPIC first.

2AM Releases I Did Wrong MV

You go 2AM! I’m totally feeling the song, not within the first minute but definitely towards the end. I’d usually complain about how their voices are slightly auto-tuned or synthesized or whatnot but it totally works for this song and the rap was just so perfect! Plus the boys are looking pretty spiffy as well.

I’m definitely on board for new M! Countdown, especially since it only features like ALL eight of my favorite groups in K-Pop. 2AM’s Laader/diva Jo Kwon & cutie Jinwoon, 2PM’s Thai Prince Nickhun, Rain mini-me Junho, and old maknae Chansung, MBLAQ’s hottie (and hands down my current obsession) Lee Joon, funny G.O, and CNLBUE’s maknae drummer Minhyuk (who happens to be born the same day as me only a year earlier.)

Gosh, this is awesome. Unfortunately, though all eight will not be on stage every week. Only for the premiere this Thursday, but every other week it’ll be a different combo of MCs, which I have to say is quite innovative, it strays from having to have locked in two MCs that audiences will get tired of and you can have big name idols able to do the job because their schedules can accommodate this once a month job while staying in the public eye. Genius. Whoever came up with it deserves a major pay raise.

February I’m taking it a lot easier than January. The first thing on my to-do list for the blog is to review BoA’s new album, IDENTITY, after giving it a thorough listening which I haven’t done yet, but in the meantime I just wanted to share some song that are currently repeating themselves on my IPod.

FOREVER LOVE by Shota Shimizu x Kato Miliyah: I can’t believe I haven’t heard it before! I really like it, their voices mesh so well together and I like it more than their previous collaboration LOVE FOREVER. I’m not a fan of either singer truthfully, I’ve heard of them but I’ve never really followed them. I’m thinking of following Kato Miliyah more closely, her voice is gorgeous!

No Way by Koda Kumi: One of the only good album tracks off of her new album! It’s a totally new sound that she should spend time exploring.

Best Friend by Kana Nishino: It’s totally grown on me from the first time I’ve listened to it and the falsetto in the song is just LOVE, is that a whistle register I hear at the end?? I’m in love with this girl’s voice, she’s totally restoring my faith in J-Pop that Ayu and Kuu just keep beating to death.

もっと… (Motto…) by Kana Nishino: Totally addictive song, it’s the start of her new era, after she released her first album, I don’t really like her beginning era, but I like this new one, A LOT! Truthfully, I’ve been listening to her last two singles a lot but I don’t want to inundate this list with all her songs from her new era.Watch the video before it gets taken down! You know how the Japanese are about their videos being posted on youtube *grumble*.

THE D-MOTION by KAT-TUN: Ugh I got sucked into this song so bad, but I don’t like the other A-side, so I guess I’m still safe. Why must Kame sound so good in the chorus??

별별별 (☆★☆) by SNSD: Beautiful song, beautiful vocals, my 2nd favorite song from them after Genie!

웃어 줄 수가 없어서 미안하다/I’m Sorry I Can’t Laugh For You by 2AM: Honestly, listen to their entire mini-album, this happens to be my favorite song of their mini-album for the moment but it fluctuates when I come across their mini-album on my IPod.

GLORIA by YUI: It’s YUI, she pwns all. The b-side Muffler is incredibly enjoyable as well.

Hanbunko by Stereopony: Love these girls <33 and I’m totally feeling the song.

Love Revolution by CNBLUE: Yep, this is definitely my 2nd favorite song after their title song. Also helps that they composed and wrote the song themselves and saves themselves from any plagiarism issues with this one!

Review: 2AM’s Can’t Let You Go Even If I Die

Who else has been found guilty of overlooking these incredibly talented guys in favor of the their more ‘beastly’ brothers, 2PM?

(*looks around* Just me? *incredulous look on face*)

Now I know I couldn’t have been the only one, but that’s the least of our matter right now, the real question is whether they finally deserve our attention and recognition with their 1st mini-album? Let’s find out!
